Photomultiplier tube Sapphire-2A MCP-PMT is designed for the detection and amplification of UV light in 115-360 nm wavelength range and enables operation in photon counting mode.

Structurally, Sapphire-2A MCP-PMT is a metal-glass vacuum unit with an insulating coating, containing a cesium-telluride photocathode on a magnesium fluoride substrate, a chevron stack of two microchannel plates, and a metal anode. The electrons are focused from the photocathode to the MCP input by the electrostatic lens field.
It can be used as a Cherenkov detector.
